Ocracoke Seafood Festival is a nonprofit event for the benefit of the Ocracoke Health Center.
What personal data we collect and why we collect it
If you choose to fill out a Contact Us form or sign up for a Newsletter, we keep the information in order to ensure a proper follow-up. We collect the minimal amount of information possible to keep your privacy and yet fulfill our form’s purpose.
This site uses Google Analytics to ensure the site is being used properly and functioning well, as well as create better marketing campaigns. Google Analytics produces cookies in order to track return users and users journeys. The data collected and processed by Google will be kept for 26 months.
This site use popups on our site for promotional purposes or to show alerts. Popups closing will trigger a cookie to be produced so that the popup is not shown in the future, for the purpose of a better user experience.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
Who we share your data with
We do not share your data willingly with 3rd party users.
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site, have submitted a form, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

Through the newsletter signup form and contact us form, the site collects your email and name, if you choose to disclose it. If you register with the site, your email is required to start an account.
How we protect your data
The information on the site is not shared with any third party groups beyond the aforementioned groups, like Google Analytics. The site is scanned for any signs of data breach and scanned for malware.
What data breach procedures we have in place
Those that have been affected will be notified within 30 days of a data breach explaining what data has been compramised.
